Since 2012, Northern Starz Center for the Performing Arts has been instilling a passion for the arts in its community and providing quality arts education in the North Metro area. Founded as a small educational theater called Broadway On Site, the non-profit has now expanded, after being renamed Northern Starz, to a multi-faceted educational community performing arts space offering instruction in theatre, dance, and music. Offering ten productions a season and reaching more than 10,000 audience members a year, Northern Starz strives to nurture and develop theatrical skills, celebrate the growth of its students and community, and inspire a love and appreciation for the performing arts. At Northern Starz, creating a positive educational experience for all of its students is of the utmost importance. With student ages ranging from 4-83, Northern Starz is committed to providing a safe and accepting environment in which all students can feel empowered, comfortable, and free to express themselves through the arts no matter their age or ability.

Piano Instructor

SCHEDULE:         Weekday afternoons and evenings

STATUS:              Exempt; part-time

SALARY RANGE: $35-$50/Hour, based on qualifications, and experience 

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching expertise. The instructor teaches individual piano lessons for students of varying levels (beginning to advance) with an emphasis on a candidate who is energetic and able to engage with the very young beginner.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Foster a positive learning environment
  • Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion
  • Provide expert music instruction to individuals, including demonstrating the playing of the piano in lessons and playing with the student
  • Manage studio session, including lesson planning, homework sheet preparation and communication
  • Preparing student for Celestial Music Festival spring showcase
  • Participation in the Celestial Music Festival 
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A degree or certification in music or music education, or the equivalent.

Experience:  Minimum of three years of piano studio teaching all ages and skill levels. Experience teaching diverse styles of music preferred.

Production Team

JOB TITLES- Directors, Choreographers, Vocal Directors, Stage Managers, Costume Designers and Technicians 

SCHEDULE DATES- For remainder of 2023 season and full 2024 season. Schedule to be determined based on teaching artists availability upon hire.

STATUS- Independent Contractor (Seasonal)

SALARY RANGE- Stipends range between $500-$3000 based on position, qualifications, and experience

REPORTS TO- Production Manager and Executive Director
