Class Synopsis: Theater: An Exposure to the Craft offers students the opportunity to engage in all aspects of the theater world; from creative writing and devised theater to designer workshops and classical text. Students will build their theater toolbox while working collaboratively, learning to connect with their inner voice, and being encouraged to be curious. This class is for all young adults looking to be creative, make friends, and do something they possibly never knew existed in the theater world. And the cherry on top? We will use our new skills to devise a one-act performance! All for our friends and family to see.
Teacher Information: Hello all! My name is Kolie Shaw and I will be teaching Theater: An Exposure to the Craft at Northern Starz Theatre Company this coming summer. Last spring I graduated with my BFA in Performance and an Emphasis in Directing from North Dakota State University after spending 4 years as a student at Saint Paul Conservatory for the Performing Artist. While my niche rests in avant-garde devised theater, I began my theater journey only performing in shows such as Annie and The Wizard of Oz. I am passionate about theater and education more than most anything, and have a plethora of exciting knowledge to share, so I am over the moon excited to offer this summer class and have the opportunity to create something together! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Kolie.Shaw@NorthernStarz.org
