Welcome to Northern Starz Creative Dance Center! Here at NSCDC we offer a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, jazz-funk, and musical theater. We're located in Ramsey, MN and offer year-round classes for all ability levels, ages three through adult.
At the Creative Dance Center students will learn new skills, make new friends, and have fun! We strive to help each student become a well-rounded individual, while teaching self-confidence, discipline, determination and of course, the art of dance.
We are excited for you to join our dance community!

This dance season we are incorporating classes with more dance genres to suit more students. Our overarching goal is to help students build the skills they need to improve their dance abilities in a safe, fun, and inviting environment. Northern Starz Creative Dance Center sees a lot of value in versatility and with our new “Foundations” classes, students will learn the skills, strength, and knowledge they need to become a well-rounded dancer. With a focus on dance theater as well as creativity, students will experience a unique dance curriculum that puts storytelling at the forefront.
This year our “Foundations'' classes will be every student’s baseline class. This means that before a student can take an “extra-curricular” class (Jazz-Funk or Contemporary/Lyrical), they must be enrolled in the appropriate “Foundations” class. We are doing this to ensure that our dancers are improving their dance skills and have the strength/flexibility/knowledge to healthily train their bodies for the rigor that comes with those “extra” styles.
“Foundations” classes are from Sept. 27th- Dec. 15th and are split by grade level (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12). Classes will cover ballet, tap, and jazz technique (K-2 only ballet/tap) including flexibility, strength, leaps, turns, progressions, terminology, dance theater training, and improvisational/creativity work. Students will spend the fall in “Foundations” class working towards building skills for line auditions on December 20th and 21st.
Line auditions will take place right before winter break. The purpose of the auditions are to give the students something to work towards as well as place them into “lines” for the end-of-year production. Line placement will be based on ability level not grade level. We feel this is the most effective and efficient way to individualize the experience for students while also being able to fit into the schedule all the classes that are needed.
Once students are placed in their lines, we will come back from winter break and spend most of spring working on the end-of-year production. Private lessons (run in the Fall) for audition prep are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Solo/duet choreo lessons (run in the Spring) for the end-of-year production are based on auditions, interest, and work ethic of the student will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis as well.
